Most of the songs on this album are, in one way or another, about how money is destroying us all. In some cultures, kids get taught to make lemonade out of lemons and then sell it for profit. It’s simple economics.
Figuratively, we all have our own lemonade stands that we use to make money for ourselves. Even if you’re a bear that has to dance in a circus, you’re making lemonade with the lemons you’ve been handed.
Way too many people live in poverty and die from it. We can’t blame it on their lemonade stand. We can’t blame it on the number of lemons they were handed. There is something wrong with the way we live together. Nobody chooses to sleep out on the street when it’s freezing.
