A song about performance pressure. Too many choices, possibilities, FOMO, constant streams of media, we’ve all experienced the challenges of a world that changes too fast. The tension in your neck or in your shoulders is often the only indicator of being overstressed. The cause of stress building up is much harder to pinpoint. I tried to put to words the causes and feelings that accompany the tension.
Most musicians have a weird relationship with stress because a lot of the time it’s what drives us to be creative. Lots of top athletes don’t speak of stress, they use the word ‘drive’ instead. We need tension and stress in our lives but we need to be more aware of it.
Treat the disease not the symptoms, something like that.
lyrics
I got it inside
I got a thin hide
I'm on a tide ride home
The sudden insights
You get the quiz right
I'm on a late night roam
When in Rome when in
Got a lotta tension
Need a little attention
Got a lotta tension in my
What a big mention, I might
Pretty outside, a song about flight
What have been might, the wrong when it's right
What a dark strive, the two sides of knives
In the spotlight you don't start a fight
Getting outside, a pain, some refrain
What have been could, the wrong understood
Let the spark thrive, the dark side of sides
In the daylight we must name the vice
A shark dives, the far side of sides
The spotlight, might
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension in my
What a big mention, I might
Take a bite off of me
I can take it, I can take it, I can take it
To decide and deceive
I can fake it, I can fake it, I can fake it
Take a bite off of me
I can take it, I can take it, I can take it
To decide and believe
I can make it, I can make, I can make it
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Need a little attention
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
Got a lot of tension
THE GURU GURU has been happily dealing in deep express art rock since 2012, combining feverishly angular guitars with off-
kilter, poly-rhythms all complimented by erratic and unhinged vocals.
Praised for their live performances, THE GURU GURU is a must-see... With palpable, electric energy oozing from the stage, vocalist Tom The Bomb balances on the verge of theatrical psychosis....more
Ah! My first entree into TSPSI, and I love it. Angular, edgy, angry, and accomplished. Like vintage NIN on meth. Can't wait to go backward through their discography. dr_shaun
